His academic Tennis Specialization path was guided by César Coutinho and included international training experiences, notably at the Global Tennis Team in Palma de Mallorca, reflecting his early commitment to evidence-based and internationally benchmarked coaching.
Between 2012 and 2015, Bruno served as a university lecturer at the Faculty of Human Kinetics of the University of Lisbon, where he taught tennis methodology, pedagogy, and sports training to undergraduate and master’s students. During this period, he played an important role in the education of future coaches, trainers, and sports managers, reinforcing his passion for structured learning and long-term athlete development.
At a national level, Bruno has been deeply involved with the Portuguese Tennis Federation. From 2018 to 2024, he worked as Coordinator of Innovation and Development within the Federation’s Education Department led by César Coutinho, contributing to the evolution of coach education programs. He continues to serve as a national coach educator, delivering courses for tennis coaches and physical education teachers in areas such as training methodology, motor learning, technical and tactical development, and athlete progression.
Alongside his institutional work, Bruno has built a strong reputation as a high-performance coach. He was Technical Director and Head Coach at Olaias Tennis Club for over a decade, where he managed the tennis school and led competitive junior and senior programs. His coaching approach emphasizes long-term development, performance consistency, and the integration of physical, technical, tactical, and mental training.
Internationally, Bruno has coached and traveled extensively with players on the Tennis Europe, ITF Junior, and ITF Pro circuits. He managed the full-season planning and multidisciplinary performance team of Finnish professional player Mia Eklund, overseeing international competition schedules and support staff. He has also guided the long-term development of Portuguese player Diego Fernandez, from grassroots level to a full scholarship at Savannah College of Art and Design (USA), where Diego achieved significant collegiate success.
Since 2009, Bruno has collaborated closely with César Coutinho as an assistant coach on several long-term development projects involving top junior and international players, including João Barra, Christopher Reynolds, Nand Vandepoele, and Lily Reynolds. These projects included regular international competition, training camps, and collaborative work with world-class coaches such as Jofre Porta at the Global Tennis Team.
Bruno’s professional philosophy is built around long-term athlete development, scientific training principles, and human-centered coaching. He believes that performance excellence is the result of structured planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the ability to adapt training to each athlete’s individual path.
